"Number 7" is the title of it, the
award-winning contemporary
go pel group has captured the urban
ound, and a growing audience.
In fact, with two key member
leaving. new management. a well
a a labcl change, Commissioned'
outlook had been glum la t year.
But that didn't di suade group
member-Fred Hammond,
Mitchell Jones, Ed Howard, Marvin
Sapp, Max Frank, Karl Reid and
Michael Williams. "We weren't
. predicted to survive but we've not
only urvived but we've done well,"
ay Fred Hammond.
"Our tage performance i way
up. and our album is way up from
the la t one. We're getting rave
review tr m it. It take a while to
, get u ed to, but now the phone just
rings off the hook." While former
Commi sioned member. Keith
Staten and Micheal Brooks no
longer perform with the group, they
do keep in touch.
In fact, Commi ioned got a lit
tle help from Keith Staten, who
while touring with the gospel play
"Wicked Wa -s", took time out to
join them in the tudio on a tune
called"B An E ample".

"the world looks at it as luck. It's
just our eve nth album. But we
know that God's perfect number is
seven. He created the world and
then on the seventh day he rested.
So it's complete and we've been
looking at Commissioned as com
plete at thi point".
