The Sept. 27 statement, issued
by the United Church's national
Civil Rights Act Thsk Force, went
out from the 1.6-million-member
church' national offices in
Clevland to the regional offices of

Specifically, the church leaders
asked for removal of "cap on
damage for discrimination
against women, religious
minorities, and people with
disabilities"; charity on what
employers must show in order to
require certain qualifications of
employees; and changes in "other
