KALAMAZOO - After thirteen
years of training and instruction, a
Black female compo er dazzled
Kalamazoo music lovers recently
when the Kalamazoo College Or
ch tm and Chancel Choir of Allen
Chapel AME Churchjoined forces to
.premiere her creation, "Fo e The
Foolish And Uve."
The June 9th double performance
(first at Allen Chapel and later at
Kalamazoo College) consisted of
Bible verses from the Book of
Proverb set to music and song, ac
cording to Angela Gray. "It tarted
as a tune I carried around in my head
since the age of even. I had to wait
until I got the skills to write down
what I wanted," he volunteered.
Her passion for music took off in
sixth grade. Attending Parkwood
Upjohn Elementary School, she
began a close relationship with a
b . "Originally: I was suppose to
play cello but the bass looked more
attractive because of its size and be
cause I enjoyed its deep, melodic
sound."
