Let's Start Now, Right Here In Detroit
Everyone can help make this walkathon a success.
Here is what you cen do:
Sponsor - We need cash donations in advance to get the
walkathon off the ground. No amount is too big or too
small. Contributions received before June 1 st will be men­
tioned in the walkathon program (or you may remain
anonymous). Individuals, businesses, organizations, &
institutions are encouraged to be walkathon sponsors.
Walk - Collect pledges In advance from family, friends,
co-workers, classmates, neighbors, fellow worshippers, club
members or businesses. Pledges of any amount are wel- •
. come and will be used to support local efforts by SANEI
FREEZE & S.O.s.A.D. We want to involve as many people in Metro-Detroit as possible. Walk with a friend, your family, or
organize a group, wheelchairs, small children and older people will be provided with back-up support as needed. A picnic in
Palmer Park will follow the walk. Turn outl This will be a day of fun, fresh air & exercise, bringing together people who care
about our communities, our world-our ids and our future. Make banners & signs. Decorate your clothes. This is a celebra­
tion I Prizes will be awarded to walkers collecting e largest number of pledges as well as the largest dollar amount.
Donate - We are seeking donations by businesses & individuals of services, prizes, refreshments & promotional goods to
support the walkathon and the walkers along the route. Your business will be mentioned in future walkathon publicity &
materials. If you are an individual with a special skill" or talent you'd like to contribute, let us know.
Volunteer - Before the walk you can: leaflet, paint signs, help plan, make phone calls, track details, run errands, stuff
envelopes. On June 15th we need people for registration, refreshments, first aid, traffic safety, marshalls, after-walk clean-up
and generally keeping things organized, safe, & comfortable for participants. We need help!
Spread the Word - Post copy and distribute this & future walk-a-thon fliers. Make announcements in the newsletters &
meeting of your workplace, school, union, club, organization or place of worship. Pass these phone numbers along -
