issues of why is it important to
form a block club, what
benefits are available to block
club members, how to start a
block club, how to get the
neighbors involved, how to run
meetings, and how to achieve'
objectives.
Powell said the purpose of
her organization is to help put
block clubs on their feet. "We
help you help yourself," she
said.

response from politicians but
10 block clubs will have them
looking, said Powell. She said
if politicians win invest money
in you, you have to be together.

Judge William F. Bledsoe
submitted the court's new
1991-92 budget which
proposes a $5,000 increase as
opposed to last year's budget
. which requested $585,558.
As shown in the budget for
the 1990-91 fiscal year, only
$79,046 was spent by the court.
. This number was recorded on
January 28 and has not been
updated since. Bledsoe said "I
don't know what the problem is
with the finance department."
He said the finance depart
ment is not monitoring the
revenue properly and that is
why they should not be in
charge of paying the bills.

Council members are still un
satified with the new budget.
Council President Linsey
Porter said "the budget is not
realistic" and does not reflect'
the conditions of the city.

Despite the name. heartburn is not a burning sensation of the heart. In
