Billy Ray Scott
honored

Billy Ray Scott, Angell
Elementary School principal in
Muskegon was honored recently
at the school auditorium by stu­
dents and former students.
He thought he was just going
to answer questions about Black
History. He didn't know it was a
tribute to him.
Mr. Scot t se rved as principal
since 1974 He ha served as high
school sports referee, a foster
care review board official, Lions
Club President and member of
the Child abuse and neglect
Council.
Mr. Scott was speechless, as
he was taken by suprise. "l 'm
overwhelmed" he said as the
audience gave him a standing
ovation.
Joseph Schulze, Muskegon
Public Schools Assistant Super­
intendent for Educa.tional· Ser­
vices, presented him with a
plaque and an aide to State Rep­
resentative M.L. "Mickey"
Knight presented him with a pla­
que also.
Loui Jo eph, a senior at
Muskegon Hts High School,
recently received a Gold Medal
and a $100 Savings Bond, for
winning first place in the Urban
League Orator Contest.
Jennifer Win ton, who
received a ,Silver Medal and
received a $75 Savings Bond for
winning second place, and Mar­
shanda SmIth, received a Bronze
Medal and a $50 Saving Bond
for· winning third place. Con­
gratulation to all of you.
