Wedne day night at
uhammad's Mosque #1
By Flode D s.
Still Reporter
DETROIT - David X took a
hi te hankerchief and whiped
the sweat from his forehead. "
He walked back and forth
telling udience members, in a
sing- ong voice, if their names
aren't in God's judgement
book, they would go through
the hot door to hell.
He then laughed with roar
ing chuckles from the crowd
soon following.
Mocking a Christian
preacher, David X, a muslim
minister from the Nation of
Islam Mosque #1, located on
Wyoming ne r Fenkell,
demonstrated the techniques of
African American leaders.
MOST AFRICA
A ERICA leaders, past and
present, are preachers such as
the late Rev. Dr. Martin
Lutrher King Jr., and the Rev.
Je e Jackson.
The e people perpetuate
white supremacy myths, he
id, adding they stand in chur
che with white images of
Jesus Christ and his mother
Mary.
They emphasize hope, faith
and the future, but African
Americans are living in a now
situation when their brothers
and sisters are faced with in-
titutionalized racism of the
mind, he said.
Identifying God "with white
people, not only conflicts the
true tory of the history of th
world, but it projects negative
images in the minds of African
Americans about themselves,
he said.
Also portraying a slave
preacher telling other slaves in
the church that they could
work .harder for the slave
master, David showed bow the
slave master who at behind
him even had an oppressive
hand in a Simple church ser
vice.
Doing this David further ex
emplified how Christianity is
another form of dividing
African Americans and brain
washing them into believing
they are inate laborers.
THE WHITE SLAVE
rna ter even had slaves
spiritually he said, adding they
were taught to equate their
owners with the supreme being
- the Master.
They called him master, the
name assigned to the creator,

because they were told he was
a messenger of God and in his
image. .
They were instructing the
slaves. in poly-theism which is
.totally against structured
religion, he said.
However, slave were able
to maintain the intellect and
wit of their African ancestors,
David said.
The "anunsl" spider is a
clever character in several
African folk tales. This termed
derived into to "Aunt Nancy"
when the slaves talked about
someone outwitting the slave
master.
AFRICA WARRIORS
brought over to the United
States did not just fall to their
knees and plow the land, David
said.
Sixty-four years pa sed
before slave became obedient
laborors. Originally Africans
were brought to the shores in
1555, he aid.
