Commissioner Ralph Cren­
shaw said he thinks the Benton
Harbor Police Department is
doing a tremendous job nd

and support."

its business session at its regular
meeting Dec. 11, the city com­
mission' voted unanimiously to
approve two loans to new busi­
� in the city. They are:
- Consolidation of Ioan
pac age for Ethel Murphy,
owner of R M urpby Career
Fashions, 90 W. Main SL. The
move gave her an additional
S12,000 for the purchase of
se onal inventory. The city
loaned M urpby $35,000 last
year to open the store.
- Revolving Loan in' the
amount of $20,000 to by
Brown to open a beauty shop,
Chears Inc. Barber & B ty
Salon, at 70 W. Main St.
Manning s id the funds
would be coming out of the ex­
cess funds left over from the city
wide street improve men fund.
There were questions about
the use of the funds designated
for th treets.
Manning aid he didn't know
that the funds could be usedfor
anything else either until
recently when a representative
from tbe Detroit HUD office
was in town and said it was their
recommendation to u e the
funds, subject to commi ion
appro al.
