Christmas is like a fantasy,
and the greatest sadness is
taking down the Christmas tree,"
says Ted Smith, coordim or of
the company's alcohol and drug
abuse recovery program. "When
e turn the calendar to January,
it's a coming-down-off-the
mountaintop experience."
"We often don't have the
spirit of Christmas in its proper
perspective," Smith says. "Some
here between the tinsel paper
and the hustle and bustle, we
miss the true meaning."
Most people bring on stress
during the holidays by trying to
do too much shopping. cooking,
celebrating, entertaining and
housecleaning. says the counsel
ing taff.
They offer these suggestions
for easing the physical and men
tal strain that can cause the
holiday blues:
-Snap out of old routines and
do omething kind for someone
in need. Getting involved wi
others is a sure way to get yo
mind off your troubles. Offer to
drive an elderly neighbor or
spend time with someone who is
alone.
