VIa Hicks, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Shennan Hicks of
Three Rivers, is busy these
days in the Kalamazoo
��tric Associates. She
joined the staff on July 14
1986. '
A 1974 graduate of Three
Rivers High School, she was
the Salutatorium of her class,
�aduated from Olivet College
with honors in 1978, and went
on to graduate from the in
diana University School of
edicine.
She took her Pediatric
Residency at Butterworth,
Blodgett Hospital in Grand
Rapids.
.or. Hicks enjoys playing the
piano and tennis.

The Bethel Baptist Church
of Three Rivers recently
awarded seven scholarships to
college students.
Four of the seven recipients
were Bridget Berry, Jules
Reynolds, Sherri White and
Raechel Williams.
.The students were recog
ruzed for their continuous ser
vice in the church.
Bethel has made scholarship
a ards continuously since
1980.
Rev. Bobby Joe Tolbert is

guests in attendance.

John McAfe .
The first rvice was held
in the home of Tommie White
on Ashland Street in Dowagiac.
The cond service wa held in
Rev. Butler' church on Bud-
low. st. They continued having
rvices there for veral
months.
The former pastor were:
Rev. John McAfee, Rev. Lee
alker, Rev. T.D. Elmore, Rev.
Leroy Cobb, Rev. Herbert Willis
and Rev. EJ. Jones.
Under the leadership of Rev.
T .D. Elmore, in 1959 they
purchased the lot on 100 Miller
Street, Dowagiac, and the
church wa built and fully
organized. At this point Pa or
