Willard Bowe, storyteller

Willard
Bowe is a tory teller . You may
ay 'That' nothing new. We
all tell lie." "Yes," Willard
is quic to dd, "but I get paid
for mine." .
illard came hard into the
storytelling business. He tarted
out as a child, not telling stories,
.. but dreaming, as we all did,
about being a fireman, a cow
boy, big truck driver. Willard
remembers seeing a civil engineer
peering through a transit and
motioning to workers, first
with his left hand, then with
hi right, and hi teacher remark
ing, "Every time he waves his
hand. he make a dollar. '
Willard re ponded, "I want
to be like him'. And so he t
hi sights on being a civil engi

But while attending Miami
orthwestern High School, one
Lcollege prep teacher, in parti
cular, seemed to resent illard

City Commission voted, Septem
ber 30, to commit S92 000
for the purchase of the Hotel
Vincent.
The Vincent Hotel a
downtown Benton Harbor land
mark for almost 60 years, will
be bought from the federal
government with a total price
tag of S102,000.

The Vincent became the

kinship with God.
"Bird to the air is life and
freedom," he exclaim. 'Fish
to the water i life and freedom.
Being in God, coming from God
man can float like a fish and
sail like a bird. Without God
he becomes distrubed and i as
awkward as a fish is out of
water, or a bird without wings."
It was during this period that
Willard won his first storytelling
