STEVEN
ZARNOWITZ, 78,
long-time Detroit area
resident, passed away
on Oct. 19, 2024.
Steven was born in
Bensheim, Germany, immigrating
with his parents, Lena and Victor
Zarnowitz, to New York City in
1952, where he attended Horace
Mann School.
When his family moved
to Chicago, he attended the
University of Chicago Laboratory
School. He went on to study at
the University of Wisconsin-
Madison and earn his juris doctor
at the University of Michigan
School of Law. He spent more
than 45 years working as
corporate counsel for Dahlmann
Properties in Ann Arbor.
A dapper lifelong history buff,
Steven was a voracious reader
and film connoisseur.
He is survived by his wife, Jill
Margolick; his daughter, Katie
Zarnowitz, from his previous
marriage; his brother, Arthur
Zarnowitz; and his cousin, Edna
Engelman Kaplan.
The family respectfully requests
memorial contributions in the
name of Steven Zarnowitz be
made to the American Heart
Association. No service by
request.
