adding that she went out
recently to buy a card table
to add on for more space.
“This is a passion for
me; it’s a labor of love,” she
says, adding she grew up
in a shomer Shabbos home
with a vibrant Shabbat
table, joined regularly by
her parents’ friends.
“I expect to have a lively
table,” she says, adding that
she tries to incorporate
something religious and
spiritual as well.
She seeks to bring energy
and excitement to the
Shabbat table, she says,
and is always glad when
guests feel welcome to stick
around after the meal to
chat and play games.
“I‘d say inclusivity and
togetherness is really what
Shabbos represents, and

having Shabbos candles
you can see from the table I
think is really important.”
Wolfson has an open-
door policy and loves
when people knock on the
door, meaning she always
keeps an extra seat and
place setting at the ready,
so an arriving guest feels
like they were already
expected, she says. Guests
are welcome to pop in
for board games Saturday
during the day, too, she
says.
“If you let it be known or
make them feel like they’re
expected, there’s a better
chance they’ll be willing to
come again and not think
twice, and I think that’s
really important, to make
people feel welcome and at
home.”
