Residents of Jewish Senior
Life’s Hechtman Apartments
celebrated the grand opening
of their newly renovated din-
ing room in style Nov. 29 by
dressing in formal attire, dining
on delicious hors d’
oeuvres
prepared by Executive Chef
Monica Reaume and dancing
to a live big band orchestra.
The beautifully appointed
4,000-square-foot dining room
seats 180 and has been com-
pletely rebuilt and redesigned
with new carpeting, wall cover-
ings and artwork. New features
include floor-to-ceiling win-
dows overlooking the sprawling
campuses of Jewish Senior Life
and The J, a gas fireplace, a
covered wraparound outdoor
patio with all-weather pergola
and a cozy Fireside Lounge
where residents can gather
before dinner. The architect for
the renovation project was
Fusco, Shaffer & Pappas Inc.
in Ferndale, and the interior
designer was Innerspace
Design Inc. in Ann Arbor.
A new “Dine Your Way”
program has been introduced
in the expanded space, which
can now accommodate all
Hechtman residents at once.
New friendship tables have
been added for residents
arriving late to dinner due to
appointments or other com-
mitments so they can meet
new people and dine based on
their individual schedules.
“Residents are really enjoy-
ing the bright, spacious, con-
temporary dining room,
” said
Melissa Morton, Hechtman
Apartments’ administrator.
“People are mingling and mak-
ing new acquaintances every
day.
