Resume Help
A vital part of securing a job is
sending an impressive resume
to a potential employer. Gesher
Human Services is now ensuring
local jobseekers get expert help
in preparing their resume with-
out a hefty fee.
September is International
Update Your Resume Month,
and during September and
October, the Southfield-based
nonprofit organization will be
holding a series of workshops for
job seekers to understand how
to prepare an outline of their
resume.
After attending a workshop,
participants will schedule a
one-on-one meeting with a
career expert. Most career staff at
Gesher are now Certified Profes-
sional Resume Writers through
the Professional Association
of Resume Writers and Career
Coaches.
A February 2023 survey of 90
professional resume writers by
Career Sidekick found that the
average cost of a professional re-
sume was $527. The professional
resume writing assistance at
Gesher Human Services is free.
Job seekers can find additional
information and register for
the workshops at geshermi.org/
event-calendar.
“If you are looking for a job,
you must have an updated
resume. It’s really the only way
to get to the next step of the job
application process, which is
the interview,
” said Director of
Business and Career Services
Jason Charnas.
The workshops will be held
in person at Gesher Human
Services (29699 Southfield Road,
Southfield) and last approx-
imately one hour. Scheduled
dates/times are:
