Together in a Purim
Celebration
L

ocal Conservative con-
gregations are joining
together on March 6
and March 7 for a communi-
ty-wide Purim celebration.
The fun begins at Adat
Shalom on Monday evening,
March 6, at 5 p.m. with a
family-friendly “Dr. Seuss-
shan” Purim shpiel. A free
Purim carnival will begin
at 5:30 p.m. and will feature
games, inflatables, balloon
art, face painting, a Star Trax
Dance party, prizes and so
much more. Dinner will be
available to purchase during
the carnival from Dish Kosher
Catering.
The community will join
in the sanctuary at 6:45 p.m.
for Minchah, Ma’ariv and
the reading of the Megillah,
which will begin at 7:30 p.m.
Everyone is invited to come
in costume and enjoy as
members of area synagogues
will read the story of Esther,
Mordechai and drown out
the name of that guy with the
three-pointed hat.
Everyone is urged to
bring a box of pasta to use
as a gragger, which will be
donated to Yad Ezra. Services
and Megillah reading will
also be available on Zoom

and can be found by visiting
the websites of any of the
participating synagogues.
The fun continues on
Tuesday morning, March 7,
at 7 a.m. at B’nai Israel, where
everyone is once again invited
to hear the reading of the
Megillah followed by a free
breakfast.
Advance reservations
for breakfast are required
and can be made at info@
bnaiisraelwb.org.
Participating synagogues in
the community-wide Purim
celebration are Adat Shalom,
Beth Ahm, Beth Shalom,
B’nai Israel, B’nai Moshe and
the Isaac Agree Downtown
Synagogue.

What if your business could co-exist in both the
past and the future? BRETT PANTER and ABBY STYBEL
found that sweet spot with BRODY’S. In September
2022, the pair took over the popular retailer with
a generational reputation, one the partners hope
to both uphold and also expand.
“Customers are amazed the family-owned store
they knew is still here,” said Abby. “They shopped
here as kids, and now their own kids are coming
in for camp goods and custom clothing.”
Abby and Brett are friends with a symbiotic outlook
and marketing and communications backgrounds,
so it made sense for them to go into business
together. They opened Eventive Studios, creating
websites, graphic design projects and more.
“When we heard Brody’s was for sale, we
decided to bring our design, retail, and opera-
tional skills to a brick and mortar business,” Brett
said. “It’s a fun extension of what we already did
in print, now taking a logo or a design and putting
it on a product. We have lots of ideas for the future.”
Brett and Abby came to Hebrew Free Loan with
paperwork, experience and enthusiasm.
“The MARVIN I. DANTO SMALL BUSINESS LOAN
PROGRAM helped us so much,” Abby said. “They
were on our side and supported our goals.”
“We now have an amazing staff, and we’re
excited to continue the tradition of Brody’s, raise the
profile and see where it will all go,” said Brett.
