cating to California to live near his son
and his family.
Mr. Lipson served in the U.S. Army
for two years. After returning from
military service, he went to accounting
college on the GI Bill, married Anita
Eisner and had two children. He later
became a CPA and worked for several
firms, including Tischler and Lipson,
Deloitte Touche and later Hartman
and Tyner.
He will be remembered by family
and friends for his gentle manner, his
love of sports, Broadway musicals, his
corny jokes and sense of humor.
Mr. Lipson is survived by his
daughter and son-in-law, Dr. Randee
(Dennis Page) Lawrence; son and
daughter-in-law, Dr. Brian and Sherry
Lipson; grandchildren, Collin (Liza)
Lawrence, Noah (Megan) Lawrence,
Robin (Rachel) Lawrence, Joshua
Lipson, Adam Lipson, Jonah Lipson;
great-grandchildren, Alonzo, Victor,
Clio, Alexis, Beatrix, Astrid and Mavis;
many other loving family members
and friends.

He was the beloved husband for 54
years of the late Anita (Eisner) Lipson.
Interment took place at Clover
Hill Park Cemetery in Livonia.
Contributions may be made to a char-
ity of one’s choice. Arrangements by
Dorfman Chapel.

EARL SEYMOUR MANDEL, 84, died
in his home in West Bloomfield on Oct.
10, 2018.
He graduated from Central High
School and went on to study at the
University of Michigan and Wayne State
University School of Law. Mr. Mandel
spent his career working as a commu-
nity liaison officer in the Detroit Public
Schools, where he positively impacted
the lives of thousands of families.
Mr. Mandel was dedicated to eco-
nomic and social justice. He gave of his
time and donated to charitable causes
throughout his life. He was most proud
of his participation in Martin Luther
King’s original march held in Detroit in
June of 1963.
Mr. Mandel was co-owner of Camp
Niobe (Dryden, Mich.) with his wife,

Joanne, who served as the director for 27
years. Camp Niobe changed lives, creat-
ed lifelong relationships and will forever
be the best memories of childhood for
many.
Mr. Mandel is survived by daughter,
Sara Elizabeth Mandel; son, Jon William;
and close friend, Sara Alguire.
He was predeceased by his beloved
wife, Joanne (Riseman) Mandel; his
mother, Ida (Harrison) Mandel; his
father, William Mandel; his brother,
Herbert Mandel.
The funeral was a private family ser-
vice. Contributions may be made to a
charity of one’s choice. Arrangements by
Ira Kaufman Chapel.

MARILEE MARTIN, 60,
of Beverly Hills, died Oct.
15, 2018.
She was the loving
daughter of the late
Rochelle and the late
Marshall Martin. She is
survived by her “auntie mom” and “uncle
dad”, Eleanore and Michael Weinstock;

cousins, Leslie Weinstock and Kol
Shaver; and their children, Orion and
Alex Shaver.

POPPY PARKER, 92, of
Farmington Hills, died
Oct. 7, 2018.
She is survived by

Minowitz and Monica
Sasson; son, Mark
c. 1997
Minowitz; many other
loving family members and friends.
Poppy was the beloved wife of the late
Robert M. Parker; the mother of the late
Barry Minowitz; the sister of the late
Judith Cruikshank.
Interment took place at B’nai
Israel Memorial Cemetery in Novi.
