Jewish National Fund’s 9/11 Living Memorial in Israel

As the world marked the 16th anni-
versary of the 9/11 terror attacks
Monday, the Jewish National Fund
(JNF) hosted and participated in
various memorial events in the U.S.
and Israel to honor American first-
responders.
Thousands of Israeli citizens,
Israeli officials and U.S. combat
veterans joined U.S. Ambassador to
Israel David Friedman at the 9/11
Living Memorial in Jerusalem to
express gratitude to first-responders
for their contributions and sacri-
fices.
The memorial, donated by JNF
World Chairman Council member
Edward Blank, was constructed in

2009 in the foothills of Israel’s capi-
tal city.
“We are very pleased to recognize
our brave first-responders for their
contributions and sacrifices to our
nation and to our local communi-
ties, and to share our mutual respect
while we honor those who fell dur-
ing the attacks,” Blank said.
JNF also hosted public tributes
to first-responders in Baltimore;
Beverly Hills, Calif.; Long Island,
N.Y.; Los Angeles; Miami; and
Westchester, N.Y.
Hundreds of Jewish students, lay
leaders, rabbis and Jewish com-
munity members were expected to
participate in the events. •

family in every way. A master bridge player and avid reader of no less than three
books a week, Phyllis was forward thinking, open minded and ahead of her time.
She leaves behind a brilliant legacy of deep kindness, profound caring and
