THE ‘GUTERGANG’ BUILDS 8FOOT SNOW MENORAH
Every year, the “GuterGang,” twins
Chaim and Chaynie, 7, Challi, 5, and
newborn twin sisters Chaviva and
Chedva, 7 months (they watched!), cre-
ate a winter project out of snow.
This year, these students at Yeshiva
Beth Yehudah in Southfield — the chil-
dren of Yocheved and Eliezer Guterman
of Oak Park — made a snow menorah.
It took them two days of work, lift-
ing more than 2,000 pounds of packed
snow and using ladders and spray-
paint to create the 8-foot high
“meSNOWrah.”
“This is their way to help publicize
the miracle of Chanukah and spread
some light and joy!” says Eliezer, their
dad.

ARAB ACTIVIST GETS NEW TRIAL
As reported by the Investigative Project
on Terrorism, Rasmieh Odeh, 69, of
Chicago, a convicted Palestinian bomb-
er whose case has become a cause
celebre among radical Palestinian
advocates, will get a new trial Jan. 10
for naturalization fraud.
U.S. District Judge Gershwin A.
Drain ruled in Detroit Dec. 6 there is
no legal basis to prohibit Odeh from
presenting testimony claiming she suf-
fered from post-traumatic stress when
she applied for naturalization as an
American citizen and failed to disclose
her Israeli conviction for two 1969
bombings in Jerusalem.
One of those bombings, at a Supersol
grocery store, killed college students
Edward Joffe and Leon Kanner.
Odeh confessed, but claims that
it was a false statement triggered by
weeks of alleged torture in Israeli
custody. Israeli court records show
otherwise. Prosecutors say that Odeh
actually confessed on her first day in
captivity and helped identify dozens of
other operatives in the Popular Front
for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP)
terrorist group responsible for the
bombings.
Drain did not allow the psychologi-
cal testimony during Odeh’s 2014 trial.
But the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals
ruled in February that Drain erred
in barring that testimony, incorrectly
finding it was not relevant due to the
nature of the charge.
