Mr. Greenfield was the
dear brother of the late Rabbi Menachem
M. Greenfield.

AUDREY GROSSMAN,
(nee Buckner), 94, of
Bloomfield Hills, died of
natural causes on Dec. 1,
2016, at her home sur-
rounded by friends and
family.
She was born May

13, 1922, in Pontiac to
Norman and Augusta
Buckner, was the middle
daughter between two beloved brothers,
Noel and Herbie. She had a long life that
she was not done living.
Audrey learned from everyone she met,

including people at Olivet College, at the
American Friends Service Committee in
New York City, her teachers and those
she met while raising a large family. She
married Don Gelbard in 1948 and was
widowed eight years later. She married
Leonard Grossman in 1957 (d. 2011)
and together they raised six children and
pursued a life devoted to the protection of
civil liberties, public education, and eco-
nomic and racial justice.
Mrs. Grossman is survived by five
of her six children and their families:
Amy Dene Grossman (d. 1971), Luanne
Grossman of Boston, Mass. (spouse,
Barbara Clivio), Richard Gelbard of
Freemont, Calif. (spouse, Debra Witter),
Catherine Grossman of W. Lafayette,
Ind. (spouse, Stan Alexander), Abbe
Marchionda of Farmington Hills (spouse,
Guy Marchionda), Meg Grossman of
Granville, Ohio; grandchildren: Hannah
Rose Johnson, Joshua Gelbard, Spencer
and Dylan Grossman, Anna and Maya
Alexander, Jacob and Julian Marchionda,
and Rebecca and Zachary Richeimer.

War II and then moved
to Israel. In 1958, she
traveled to Beaver Falls,

settled in Michigan.

She was the beloved wife for 43 years
of the late Elias Herman; devoted moth-
er of the late Martin Herman; loving
grandmother of the late Aviva Herman;
sister and sister-in-law of the late Jack
Marvel, the late Martin and the late Sosi
Moskovitz. She was also predeceased by
many sisters, brothers and other rela-
tives who died during the Holocaust.
Interment was at Hebrew Memorial
