2 Couples — 110 Years

C

elebrating their
55th anniversaries,
Barbara and Jack
Dorfman, and Harriett and
Sy Lusky have been friends
forever. Barbara and Jack
married Aug. 6, 1961, and
returned from their hon-
eymoon one week later to
attend Harriett and Sy’s wed-
ding on Aug. 13, 1961. Both
couples have three married
children, giving the bubbies
and zaydies six fabulous
grandchildren each.

argo Pernick and Paul
Goldshlack, Ilan Weitzer and
Carolyn Szlamkowicz are
thrilled to announce the engagement of
their daughter Amit Weitzer to Evan Major,
the son of Connie and William Lass, and
Matthew Major.
Amit is sister to Maya and Talia Weitzer
and granddaughter of Anne Pernick and the
late Larry Pernick, Bella Weitzer and the late
Chanan Weitzer.
Amit is a recent graduate of the University
of Michigan’s School of Social Work and is
the new executive director of Habonim Dror
Camp Tavor, located in Three Rivers, Mich.
Evan, also a graduate of the University of Michigan’s School of Social Work, is
a school social worker in the Wayne Westland Schools.
The couple, who reside in Hamtramck, are planning a summer 2017 wedding.

J

ulie and Billy Stern of West
Bloomfield, together with Kim and
Bob Gatof of Boston, Mass., are
thrilled to announce the engagement of their
children Emily Nicole and Jake Dylan.
Emily and Jake are both graduates of the
University of Michigan. Emily is a fourth-
year medical student at Tufts University
School of Medicine in Boston. Jake is a 2015
graduate from the University of Michigan
Law School and is an attorney with Goodwin
Law in Boston.
A September wedding is planned at Bay
Harbor in Petoskey; the couple currently
reside in Boston.
