LEONARD MAZEROV,
87, of Bloomfield Hills,
died July 19, 2016.
He was a professional
actor, singer, dancer,
producer and director
in theater. He appeared
on the London and
Mazerov
Broadway stages. He
c.1970
was a cabaret pianist
and played in New York
and clubs on the East Coast. He also
had a career in the business world, was
an executive officer for corporations
and earned the reputation for being an
unusual reorganizer of businesses in
financial trouble or in bankruptcy.
Mr. Mazerov was involved in several
classical musical organizations and
lent financial support. He also created
a fund in the Community Foundation
of Southeast Michigan to assist and
develop activities in the gay community.
He departs having lived, in his words, a
“thrilling, productive and exciting life.”
He was the lifetime partner for 43
years of the late Gordon Ginsberg, who
died in 2002.
Mr. Mazerov is survived by a brother,
Clifford Mazerov of Jackson; nieces,
nephews and friends in both the gay and
straight societies.

EDWARD OSHER, 96, of Cincinnati,
Ohio, died July 27, 2016.
He is survived by his children, Susan
and Dr. James Ginzler, Judith and
Dr. Joseph Kaufman, Dr. Gerald and
Marcia Osher, and Nancy and John
Purkiss; grandchildren, Dr. Bradley and
Anika Ginzler, Dr. Lisa Ginzler, Josh
Kaufman and Nicole Israel, Carly and
Robert Vollero, Jenna Kaufman, Gabi
Rose Osher, Noah Osher, Sam Purkiss
and Sari Purkiss; great-grandchildren,
William and Louisa Kaufman, Lila and
Brady Vollero.
Mr. Osher was the beloved husband
of the late Anne Osher; the cherished
father of the late Dr. Bruce Osher.
Interment was at Machpelah Cemetery
in Flint. Contributions may be made to

LAWRENCE “LAWRIE” SILVERMAN,
100, of West Bloomfield, died July 28,
2016.
A graduate of Michigan State
University’s School of Agriculture,
he worked for the Department of
Agriculture in Washington before being
drafted into the Army. Mr. Silverman
was a member of the 180th Port
Company with the rank of technician
fifth grade. He saw service in Europe
and was part of the Normandy invasion.
Upon returning to civilian life, he
worked with his father in the family
store, Silver Stores, and later was a man-
ager for Mary Jane Shoes in both their
Wonderland and Seven Mile/Livernois
stores.
During retirement, he traveled exten-
sively with Elderhostel and attended
lectures presented by the Institute for
Retired Professionals. He was also an
avid reader, preferring anything about
World War II.
Mr. Silverman was the beloved son
of the late Charles and the late Pauline
Silverman; brother and brother-in-law
of the late Milton and the late Jeanette
Silverman, the late Harriett and the late
David Goldman, the late Leah Hoffman;
uncle of the late Pamela Hoffman Lazar.
He is survived by his nieces and neph-
ews, Paula and Norman Miller, Alan and
Sandra Goldman, Marc Hoffman and Ira
Hoffman; their children and other rela-
tives and friends.
Interment was at Clover Hill Park
Cemetery. Contributions may be
made to a charity of one’s choice.
