KROHNGOLD, 88,
of East Lansing,
peacefully passed
away July 19, 2016,
with her family by
her side.
She was born Oct.
Krohngold
9, 1927, in Toronto,
Ontario, Canada, the
daughter of Alfred
and Gertrude (Samuels) Feiler. Betty
graduated from Wayne State University
with a degree in medical technol-
ogy. She then worked at St. Lawrence
Hospital as a medical technician, as
a civil rights investigator for the state
of Michigan and as a compliance offi-
cer for the Michigan Department of
Transportation.
Her love of gardening moved her
to become a master gardener through
Michigan State University. She also
loved history and was a docent for
the Michigan Historical Museum. She
was the first female president of the
Lansing Chapter of B’nai B’rith, and
she operated her own public opinion
survey business.
Mrs. Krohngold was preceded in
death by her first husband, Dr. Robert
Goodman, in 1983 and her second
husband, Jacob Krohngold, in 2015;
sister, Saretta Ulrich; brothers, Julian
Feiler, Joseph Gelber and Leon Gelber.
She is survived by her sons, Kenneth
(Sallie) Goodman of Kalamazoo,
Thomas (Zaira) Goodman of Naples,
Italy, and David Goodman of East
Lansing; grandchildren, Aaron
(Christine Sauve) Goodman of Detroit,
Keith Goodman and Ambra Goodman
of Naples, Italy, Evan Goodman of
Washington, D.C.; several cousins,
nieces and nephews.
The service was held at
Congregation Shaarey Zedek,
1924 Coolidge Road, East Lansing.
Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery
in Lansing. Contributions may be
made to Congregation Shaarey Zedek
in East Lansing or to a charity of one’s

Obituaries
DR. ALVIN
LEZELL, 96, of
Southfield and Boca
Raton, Fla., died July
16, 2016.
He graduated
from the University
of Michigan Dental
School and served in the Navy dur-
ing World War II. He was married to
his college sweetheart, Shirley, for 72
years. He participated in the Shaarey
Zedek morning minyan for many
years.
He loved sports and was active in
golf, tennis and skiing. He was a devot-
ed duplicate bridge player. He was also
an avid traveler, celebrating a Passover
seder at the Sphinx in Egypt, studying
archaeology at Oxford in England and
visiting Israel many times.
Dr. Lezell is survived by his wife,
Shirley E.; children, Dr. Richard
(Susan), Rabbi Shmuel (Daniella),
Suzanne, Lauren; many loving grand-
children and great-grandchildren; his
brother, Maurice “Bud” Lezell; brother-
in-law, Dr. Charles Friedgood; sister-
in-law, Shirley Lezell; loving cousins,
nieces, nephews and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents,
Issac and Dora; brothers, Samuel and
Hyman “Hy” Lezell.

died July 19, 2016.
She is survived by

nieces, nephews and friends.
Mrs. Luft was the beloved wife of
the late Dr. Sol Luft; the cherished
mother of the late Brenda Lynn Luft;
the loving sister of the late Sidney and
the late Mildred Locker; the devoted
daughter of the late Max and the late
Fanny Locker.
Interment was at Clover Hill Park
