ROSALIND
HARRIS, of
Worcester, Mass.
Her family feels
that if we are greeted
by loved ones when
we pass, there will
be a lot of hugging,
Harris
tail-wagging and
purring.
They concede
that it is impossible to encapsulate the
legacy of an extraordinary soul in a
few short paragraphs, and they note
that Rosalind Harris was a soul whose
life tilted the world’s axis toward the
kinder and gentler.
If she had kept a social media page
since high school, you’d see that she
was a Cub Scout den leader, a Sunday
school teacher and the executive secre-
tary for the Oak Park School District’s
superintendent. Upon retirement, she
served as the president of the Agudas
Israel Congregation in Hendersonville,
N.C., and a volunteer for Pardee
Hospitals.
There would be lamentations about
the Red Sox and the Spartans and

clever ironic asides about life’s absurdi-
ties. Her profile would contain pictures
of her travels, her grandkids and the
numerous cats and dogs that she’d res-
cued and rehabilitated. There would
also be pictures of vegetarian dishes
she’d prepared and photos from loved
ones of her beautiful smiles and her
whimsical “goofy faces.”
Proudly a mother of Scott and Brian
Harris; a grandmother of Madison,
Morgan, Sawyer and Alec Harris, and
Kei Carter; a mother-in-law of Tracy
Howell and Marcia Conder; a sister
to William Rosen; and a dear friend
to many, she was also a splendidly
independent and unique, selfless indi-
vidual.
Before her passing, Mrs. Harris
had to say goodbye to her husband of
49 years, Sydney Harris; her parents,
Murray and Ethel Rosen; and her
daughter-in-law, Deborah Krantz.
In lieu of flowers, send a donation in
her memory to Brother Wolf Animal
Rescue, P.O. Box 8195, Asheville, NC,
28792.
