‘Holocaust By Bullets’
Event launches the opening of a new exhibit
at the Holocaust Center.
T
he Holocaust Memorial Center in Farmington Hills hosted
an opening event June 14 for its latest exhibit, “Holocaust by
Bullets, Yahad-In Unum — 10 Years of Investigations.” About
175 people attended and heard a very moving speech by YIU Director
Marco Gonzalez. He explained his organization’s work and mission
to find the mass graves of Jews and Roma systematically killed by the
Nazis in Eastern Europe, prior to the creation of concentration camps.
YIU, founded in 2004 by Father Patrick Dubois, to date has identi-
fied more than 1,800 mass killing sites and interviewed 4,500 eyewit-
nesses. The exhibit chronicles this lesser-known side of the Holocaust
through testimonies, photographs and maps.
Gonzalez said he hopes the exhibit will resonate with young people,
to learn lessons from the past to prevent future atrocities from occur-
ring. “Holocaust by Bullets” is on display at the HMC until Dec. 30.
