of Congregation Shaarey Zedek
and a past president of Jewish
Family Service, Jewish Vocational
Service and Jewish Apartments and
Services (now Jewish Senior Life).
An avid reader of nonfiction, he
believed in lifelong learning and
studied Tanach (the Jewish Bible)
every Sunday for 35 years. He was
a dedicated runner who hit the
pavement every day, regardless of
weather or locale.
“I credit my dad for many
things, in particular for teaching
me the business and the passion
for my real estate career and much
more,” said his son Buzz.
According to his son Paul, he had
an incredible knack for visualizing a
project in his mind and coming up
with an estimate that was strikingly
accurate. In business and elsewhere,
he exemplified humility, treating
everyone with dignity regardless of
position or social status.

FAIR TO ALL
“He taught me to behave the same
way to everyone, whether they
were digging a ditch or buying a
building,” Paul said. “You cannot
teach a child that without doing
it yourself. He had no tolerance
for rudeness or arrogance. He was
approachable, and people genu-
inely liked him.”
Gilbert Silverman is survived
by his wife, Lila Silverman; chil-
dren, Marsha and Tom Brunelle of
Madison, Conn.; Wendy Silverman
and Mitch Master of Bloomfield
Hills; Buzz Silverman of Scottsdale,
Ariz.; Eric and Svetlana Silverman

Silverman, Cynthia and Chris
Cifrino, Katarina Silverman, Aleksia

ing brother of the late Judith
Herschman and the late Miriam
“Mimi” Alspector.

D ON ’ T STOP NOW .

By now, you know each other so well you feel you’re
part of each other (and you are). You know exactly
what each other is thinking before it’s said.

With an event as important as this, it never hurts to
discuss your choices and plan ahead. Once you make
prearrangements, there’s never any question about
what you would have wanted... it’s all understood.
