FOOD KITS GIVEN TO HUNGRY KIDS

Higher Hopes!, led by founder Bill Birndorf, gave $10,500 to
Gleaners, enough to distribute 1,400 complete meal kits this
summer through its Summer Mobile Pantry program.
“These are the months where families and children suffer
the most from hunger because kids are not in school, and
there is less of a focus on helping at this time of the year,”
Birndorf says. “The food kits will consist of protein, like a
10-pound package of chicken, whole grains, fresh fruits and
vegetables, and canned goods. Each kit will contain around
40 pounds of food and provide meals for 10 to 12 people.”

or monetary donations to help this year’s cause, visit www.
