vah on Saturday,
June 11, at Temple

Israel in West
Bloomfield. He will
be joined in celebration by his siblings
Gabriel and Michael, and proud
grandparents Carol and Alvin Levine,
Judy and Robert Liss, Dorothy
Clingman, and Susan and Robert
Chapla. Jonah also traveled with his
family to Israel where he celebrated his
bar mitzvah at the Western Wall.
He attends Berkshire Middle
School in Birmingham. Among his
many mitzvah experiences, Jonah
volunteered at Yad Ezra in Berkley,
Michigan’s kosher food pantry, find-
ing the fight to combat hunger very
rewarding.

in her celebration will be her proud
grandparents Cynthia and Barry
Gonte, and Helene and Merton
Robbins. Cara is also the great-grand-
child of the late Esther and the late
Carl Horowitz, the late Roselyn and
the late Samuel Gonte, the late Bessie
and the late Sol Penn, the late Ann
Rabinowitz and the late George
Robbins.
She is a student at O.E. Dunckel
Middle School in Farmington Hills.
Cara volunteered her time for more
than a year playing games and spend-
ing time with seniors at Jewish Senior
Life’s Fleishman and Hechtman resi-
dences in West Bloomfield. She found
this to be the most meaningful of her
many mitzvah projects.

part of her mitzvah project, Hannah
enjoyed making soup kits and Shabbat
boxes with Jewish Family Services for
those less fortunate.

ancy and Richard Barr of West
Bloomfield, and Tracy and
Dennis Albers of Piedmont,
Calif., are excited to announce the engage-
ment of their children Jessica Lauren Barr
and Joel Henry Albers.
Jessica is a graduate of the University of
Michigan and a senior social media strate-
gist with Ogilvy & Mather. Joel is a graduate
of the University of Colorado and a business
development manager at sports technology
firm IOMEDIA. Both received their master’s
degrees from New York University, where
they met.
The couple reside in New York City and are planning a September 2016 wed-
ding in Downtown Detroit.

Jeffrey Ryan to Nicole Marie, daughter of
Michael and Julie Bistany of Des Plaines, Ill.
Jeffrey is an account manager at Trustwave
in Chicago, Ill.
Nicole is a kindergarten teacher in
Schaumberg.
The couple reside in Chicago. A June wed-
ding is planned.
Kuhl 96th
Nosanchuk 63rd

erome “Jerry” Kuhl of Bloomfield will
celebrate his 96th birthday on June 9.
He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and
only recently moved to Michigan to be close
to his daughter, Dr. Shirlee Kuhl, and her
husband, Peter, and son, Josh. He served in
the Army, was a college valedictorian with a
physics major, worked for many years as an
engineer for the government and also in pri-
vate industry. He loved traveling, especially
going on many trips to Europe, and he was
formerly very active playing golf, tennis and
cross-country skiing. Now he enjoys going
to opera, ballet, classical music at the DSO and fine dining as well as a hand of
cards or a good movie. His sister Harriet and two of his favorite nieces, Karyn
and Denise, will join him from New York in extended birthday celebrations.

Nosanchuk of Bloomfield Hills
celebrated their 63rd wedding
anniversary on May 28. Happy and proud to
be with them to celebrate the occasion were
their children, Karen and Jim Wechsler, Barry
and Kathy Nosanchuk and Bonnie Nosanchuk;
and their grandchildren, Amy Wechsler, David
Wechsler, Amanda Nosanchuk and Adam
Nosanchuk. They will continue to celebrate
with family and friends throughout the year.
