MYFITNESSPAL
Medical studies
show that keep-
ing a food journal
doubles your
weight loss. Ever
since sports apparel
brand Under
Armour invested
in MyFitnessPal,
the app has gained
features galore. With its new Apple
Watch extension, MyFitnessPal lets
you track exercise, calories and
weight.
The app has a robust
library of common foods (over 5
million) to make entry easier, and
scanning food packaging with the
barcode scanner is a mindless activ-
ity. MyFitnessApp works seamlessly
with MapMyRun and other fitness
mobile apps. The best part about
MyFitnessPal is that it is free.

FOODUCATE
Many nutrition apps let you record
your calorie and water intake along
with journaling your daily exercise,
but Fooducate is more of a food
coach. It calls itself “a nutritionist in
your pocket” because the app advises

you on which healthy meals to eat
based on their nutrients and ingredi-
ents.
The app won the prestigious
Healthy App Challenge from the U.S.
Surgeon General. Fooducate also lets
you share tips.
With all of these innovative mobile
apps on the market, we have no
excuse not to become healthier and
more dedicated to our individual fit-
ness goals.
The first step is installing the app
on your mobile device. The other
steps depend on your personal com-
mitment. Here’s to your health!
