"Jews are about family and staying
together;' Adler said. "It links back to
the brand heritage — family, Jews, busi-
ness, sticking together — that's kind of a
cool thing. And we're not just coming [to
Detroit] to sell beautiful product:'
Beginning this fall, the Will Leather
Goods Give Will Foundation will donate
more than 500,000 brand backpacks to
underprivileged Detroit students including
those at Vernor Elementary where Adler
attended school.
Adler's success in business is fueled
by strong family values and tradition. Of
the couple's three children, two work in
the family business: daughter Shane, 26,
travels the country as Will Leather Goods
brand manager and director of retail
expansion; and Brent, 31, is company vice
president of sales and merchandise man-
ager based in Portland. Luke, 35, works
as an Oregon-based Chinese medicine
acupuncturist.
"Being a father and a husband is all
about the heart:' said Adler. "The heart
of a person who is listening, bringing up
their kids to have certain values:'
