to volunteer. Options include writing
letters to soldiers, creating blankets for
shelter animals, preparing soup packs
for homeless shelters, delivering to Yad
Ezra kosher food pantry, making sukkah
decorations, helping at an animal shelter
and creating a "birthday in a box." Light
lunch provided, but donations accepted.

GARDEN PARTY

Noon-4 pm, Sept. 27. Pre-Sukkot har-
vest party with food and beverages

SCAVENGER HUNT

1-3 pm, Sept. 27. Paint the Town
Purple, a road rally-scavenger hunt,
with transportation provided, will raise
consciousness about domestic violence.
Participants are encouraged to wear

KIDS KICKING CANCER

1 4 pm, Sept. 27. At Breaking Brunch at
Brick's, Mike Subu and Chef Asia Rain
will offer celebrity chefs, culinary action
stations, craft cocktails and live music.
A portion of proceeds will be donated
to Kids Kicking Cancer, Rabbi Elimelech
Goldberg's organization that helps
children face the challenges of cancer

Israeli ambassador to the United
States, to speak on three occa-
sions during
the congrega-
tion's SYNergy
Shabbat
Friday-
Saturday, Oct.

2013, Oren was
instrumental
in securing
U.S. support for Israel's defense
and upholding Israel's right to
security and peace. Born in the
U.S. and educated at Princeton
and Columbia, Oren is a bestsell-
ing author, served as an officer
in the Israel Defense Forces and
acted as an emissary to Jewish
refuseniks in the Soviet Union.
Following a Shabbat Rocks
Service at 6 p.m. Friday, there
will be a Shabbat dinner and
a presentation by the ambas-
sador on "Iran, Israel and the
U.S.: Israel's Future Amidst a
Changing Political Reality."
The Friday evening program is
cosponsored by the Israel Project
and the Jewish Community
Relations Council.
On Shabbat morning, he will
deliver the sermon in the main
sanctuary, focusing on "How
Israel is Critical to Our Jewish
Faith and to Our Future as a
Jewish People:' That afternoon,
following Kiddush, he will dis-
cuss "The Making of the Modern
Middle East:'
Other special SYNergy offerings
include a 9:45 Shabbat Morning
Torah Study session with Dr.
Melissa Ser and Soulful Yoga with
Rabbi Rachel Shere at 10 a.m.
There is a Friday dinner charge
of $56 per household or $25 per
adult; $13/child ages 3-12; no
charge under 3. Dinner reserva-
tions are required. There is no
charge for other programming.
