Message To Sen. Peters:
Don't Vote For Iran Deal
We can only hope that the warnings
against the Iran deal issued at the
Southfield rally by Hannan Lis, a major
Democratic fundraiser and supporter
of U.S. Sen. Gary Peters, were heard by
the senator.
The son of a World War II veteran
and having served in the U.S. Navy,
Sen. Peters knows full well the supreme
sacrifice our men and women in uni-
form willingly assume to defend our
nation and precious freedoms. We have
confidence that he will vote to reject
this deal that empowers, strengthens
and lines the coffers of a brutal geno-
cidal regime that has murdered and
maimed thousands of our troops.
More than 200 top military brass
— generals and admirals who served
in both Democratic and Republican
administrations — have come together
in opposition to this cataclysmic capitu-
lation to Iran, clearly spelling out the
dangers to our national security and
that of our allies.
We entreat Sen. Peters not to ignore
the pleas of our veterans and military
officers, as well as our local community
leaders, to vote down this dangerous deal.

was written), Sen. Peters announced his
support of the Iran deal. See page 14.
Is Schumer Playing Politics
By Opposing Iran Pact?
Sen. Schumer says he will vote against
the nuclear treaty. This is the same treaty
endorsed by many important Israelis
and many members of our own Senate.
Perhaps Sen. Schumer, the politician,
is influenced by the large number of
Jewish voters in New York!

The Iran Pact Is
Political Poison
When we asked an Israeli policeman
in Safed what he thought of President
Obama, he rolled his eyes and said, "He
doesn't care about us:'
It's easy to forget about politics when
traveling through Israel, but politics
doesn't forget about Israel.
My wife and I joined some friends for
their son's wedding in Caesarea, Israel,
in late August. It had been 16 years
since we were there last, but to me,
Israel has become even more magical,
spiritual, technological, extraordinary
and unforgettable, an oasis in a terrible
region of violent hatred.
That's why it broke my heart to
return to the poison of American
politics and watch President Obama
and Secretary of State Kerry push
Democratic congressmen to vote for
the JCPOA [Joint Comprehensive Plan
of Action]. Obama seems more aligned
with the U.N., China and Russia than
with Israel, America's only democratic
ally in the Mideast.
Liberal Democrat Alan Dershowitz
called Obama and Kerry "inept negotia-
tors" ("Dershowitz: 'Inept Negotiator'
Obama Gave Iran Green Light to Build
Nuke Raphael Ahren, Times of Israel,
Aug. 18). Even Sen. Stabenow in her
support of the agreement, asks, "'How
in the world can we trust them [Iran] to
live up to an agreement?' The answer is:
We cannot." ([N, "Supporting The Iran
Dear Sept. 3, page 38)
Isn't it bad enough that the lead-
ers of Iran, together with Iran-funded
groups in Lebanon and Gaza, continue
to call for wiping Israel off the map?
Isn't it incredible that the World Health
Organization condemned only Israel as
the sole "violator" of human rights?
I am ashamed of U.S. elected officials
who think they know more about Israel's
survival and security than virtually all of
Israel's leaders and 95 percent of Jewish
organizations. No matter what these pol-
iticians claim, I believe they care more
about their own political legacies and
careers than the survival of Israel and
the security of the United States.

If Only ... Israel Had
Acted More Like Iran
If only Israel held Americans hostage,
bombed Marine barracks, blew up
American soldiers, tyrannized its citi-
zens and chanted "Death to America"
ad nauseam, odds are she, too, would
be rewarded with billions of dollars,
feted by American and European dip-
lomats, and gifted a toothless deal that
secured her nuclear weapons.
If only Israel would turn from decent
to despicable, untold rewards from the
West could be hers.

Palestinians Killed
The Two-State Dream
If the two-state dream is dead in Israel,
it's because the Palestinian leaders have
killed it by turning it into a nightmare
in Gaza and rejecting it at the nego-
tiating table time and again. Gaza is
another terrorist entity rather than the
birth of a non-aggressive, independent
Palestinian state, and the Palestinian

Ask Attorney
Ken Gross
about...
Authority hasn't accepted even gener-
ous offers made over the years.
Israel was established to be a Jewish
nation among other nations.
Like other nations, we Jews finally
have a country and the power to look
out for our own interests rather than
having to accommodate ourselves
to the rulers of the many nations in
which we have lived throughout our
history. Now J Street Co-Chair Toby
Citrin still wants Israelis and Jews to
accommodate themselves to benefit
the Palestinians and to please critics
of Israel ("The Vanishing Green Line
Aug. 27, page 37).
Israelis showed they were willing
to do that. But how many times can
a people be rebuffed before rejecting
rejection?
What's important
to us at this time
of year?
To extend our
best wishes to the
community for a
Happy, Healthy, Safe
and Prosperous New Year.
