'Unsustainable Government'
Can't Pay For Basic Needs
Thanks for your heartrending article on
budget cuts to clients with disabilities
("Now What?" May 7, page 1). These
cuts are a foreseeable result of shift-
ing Michigan's tax burden from busi-
nesses to the lower middle class, which
unfortunately was strongly supported
by large segments of the Jewish com-
munity.
Instead of the promised "trickle
down," we have created an unsustain-
able government incapable in even
good economic times of supporting
basic needs for mental health, roads
and public education.
Who in our community is concerned
enough to speak up and take action
against these inhumane policies?

Divorce Expert To Talk
About Post-Divorce
The Women's Divorce Resource
Center presents "The Never-Ending
Divorce," a workshop featuring
nationally known Michigan family
law attorney Henry Gornbein, on
Wednesday, June 3, from 6:30-8 p.m.
at the Bloomfield Public Library,
1099 Lone Pine Road, Bloomfield
Township.
Gorbein, author of the new book,
Divorce Demystified, Everything
You Need To Know Before Filing
for Divorce, will speak about post-
divorce legal issues relating to cus-
tody, child support, parenting time,
enforcement and change of domicile.
A partner with Lippitt O'Keefe
Gornbein PLLC in Birmingham, he
is a former president and chairper-
son of the Family Law Section of
the State Bar of Michigan and of the
Michigan Chapter of the American
Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers,
along with several other family law
organizations. He has written and
published extensively on the subject
of family law, including the Spousal
Support Chapter of Michigan Family
Law. He also is the creator and host
Israel not ever relinquish the strategic
territory of the Golan Heights ("Very
Strategic Vantage Point," May 7, page
30). However, it must be pointed out
that this message needs to extend to all
territory currently under Israeli sover-
eignty.
Too many Jews applauded when Ariel
Sharon's government withdrew from
Gaza or a previous Netanyahu govern-
ment withdrew from Hebron.
As student activist Chloe Valdary
eloquently points out, the only way to
counter the BDS movement's idea that
the "Jews are foreigners and colonial-
ists, that they don't belong in terms
of sovereignty in Israel ... is by giving
expression to the indigenous roots of
the Jewish people to this land" ("Pro-
Israel and Proud:' May 7, page 24).
It must be shouted from the rooftops
that with every successive territorial
withdrawal Israel encourages the BDS
idea that Jews are not sovereign in
Israel and that the land really belongs
to the Palestinians not the Jews.
Liberal Jews, in Israel and the world,
believe that territorial withdrawals
and appeasement will reveal the moral
superiority of the Jewish state. However,
these policies weaken Israel and
encourage those who do not recognize
the Jewish right to the Land of Israel.
Menachem Begin falsely believed
that by withdrawing from the Sinai
it would preserve Israeli sovereignty
over Judea and Samaria. The fact is
that since 1948, modern Jewish history
has shown that territorial withdrawals
merely serve to beget more withdraw-
als.
This Israeli practice must end once
and for all.

Can you solve my
tax problem?

Yes, I can. Tax problems are
stressful — they cause loss of
sleep and enormous pressure.
The biggest mistake people
make is ignoring them. There
are good solutions available, at reasonable
cost, to release levies and often settle the
debt. Unlike may firms recently claiming
to handle tax problems, THAV GROSS has
been solving tax problems for individuals
and businesses in the area for 33 years.
If your bank account has been levied or
wages garnished, the first step we do is
contact the IRS or the State and work
to get your money released. If you have
unified tax returns, we will help you get
the returns filed. If unpaid taxes are the
issue, we will analyze the years and dates
to determine if the statute of limitation has
or is about to run. Income taxes are also
sometimes dischargeable in bankruptcy —
so we also examine that option to eliminate
the tax. For both income and payroll
tax liabilities — an Offer in Compromise
with IRS and and now with the State is a
possible way to settle the tax for pennies
on the dollar. The important point here — is
that there are options and avenues to solve
the problem. You should call us today — for
a FREE CONSULTATION.
