Obituaries

DAVID HOPTMAN,

90, of Huntington
Woods, died April
24, 2015.
He was born in
Detroit on Dec. 27,
1924.
He attended
Hoptman
Wayne University
(now Wayne State
University), where
he received a master's in social work.
The majority of his career was spent
as a social worker at Jewish Family
Service in Southfield. Mr. Hoptman
was an accomplished photogra-
pher and aficionado of music and
film, making frequent presenta-
tions on these subjects to the Jewish
Community Center's Institute of
Retired Professionals, including Music
Lovers; Seniors of Active Retirement
(SOAR; affiliated with WSU), of which
he was a faculty member; Oakland
Community College's Adult Learning
Institute; Fox Run retirement commu-
nity; and other organizations.
He is survived by his children, Claire
Wendy Cohen of Tallahassee; Matthew
Hoptman and his wife, Marla Abrams,
of New York City; Ari Hoptman of
Minneapolis; Maya Hoptman and
her husband, (John) Christopher
Kaltwasser; their daughter, Julia
Kaltwasser; his partner, Barbara
Keidan; in-laws, Paul and Barbara
Goodman.
His parents, Sarah and Morris
Hoptman, and sister Yetta (Trustman)
predeceased him as did his wives,
Martha (Ray) Cohen, Muriel Kingston
Hoptman and Janis Waxenberg.
Contributions may be made to the
Southern Poverty Law Center, Jewish
United Fund, Village in the Woods or a
charity of one's choice. Arrangements
by Ira Kaufman Chapel.

took place at the Hebrew Memorial
Park Cemetery in Clinton Township.

Zeidman, Michael Zeidman; many
loving nieces, nephews, other family

Mr. Katz was the beloved husband of
the late Marlene Katz.

Mrs. Levine was the beloved wife for
68 years of the late Sidney M. Levine;
loving sister of the late Morris and the
late Sally Krut, the late Mickey and the
late Philip Schneider; the dear sister-in-
law of the late David and the late Eye
Levine, and the late Harriet Sandweiss.
Interment was at Adat Shalom
Memorial Park. Contributions may be
