RICHARD ROBINSON, of West
Bloomfield, died peacefully on
March 27, 2015, after a brief illness.
He was born on Oct. 18, 1932, in
Schenectady, N.Y. He grew up in
a loving, extended family, went to
Sienna College and served in the
Army during the Korean War. After
his discharge in 1955, he returned
home to become president of the
Robinson Furniture Company, a
position he held until his retirement.
Following retirement, he relocated
to West Bloomfield, to be closer to
family. There he met the love of his
life, Betty Blase, and they became
inseparable. They enjoyed traveling
together, playing bridge, cooking
for family and friends, and were
longtime volunteers at Meals on
Wheels. Richard was a consummate

storyteller; he knew the punch line to
every joke and made friends wherever
he went. His warmth, generosity and
sense of humor will be sorely missed.
Mr. Robinson never had any chil-
dren of his own but was the favorite
uncle to his niece, Dr. Loren Levy,
and nephews, Dr. Mark Levy and Dr.
Zachary, Dr. Benjamin and Elliott
Robinson.
Richard is survived by his beloved
partner, Betty Blase; her children,
Dr. Norman and Rebecca Blase,
Susan and Dr. Craig Gordon, Dr.
Lawrence and Dr. Barbara Blase,
Alan and Beth Blase; his sister,
Leatrice Levy; brother and sister-
in-law, Dr. Stewart and Valerie
Robinson. He loved his role as hon-
orary grandfather to Betty's grand-
children and great-uncle to his niece
and nephew's many children — all of
whom were his favorites.
A memorial service will be held
at the Dorfman Chapel on Sunday,
April 12, at 10 a.m., immediately
followed by a brunch at the home of
Loren Levy.
Contributions may be made to the
National Council of Jewish Women
or Hadassah. Arrangements by
Dorfman Chapel.

ALLAN SHAPIRO, 76, of

and Faith Shapiro, Mark and Nancy
Shapiro; grandchildren, Leah, Stacey
and Bradley Shapiro; sisters-in-law
and brother-in-law, Miriam Shapiro,
and Larry and Karen Farber; nieces
and nephews, Phillip and Nancy
Shapiro, Michael and Susanne
Shapiro; caregiver, Tanya Williams;
many loving nieces, nephews, great-
nieces and great-nephews.
Mr. Shapiro was the devoted son
of the late Herman and the late Rose
Shapiro; the dear brother of the late
Robert Shapiro.
Interment was at Adat Shalom
Memorial Park. Contributions may be
made to Temple Israel, Michael Roth
Fund, 5725 Walnut Lake Road, West
