went to Lorenzo's restaurant on Black River
Road in Onaway, Mich., where we live. I
enjoyed the whitefish, and he had prime
rib. We both had their wonderful salad bar
that is one of the best here Up North.
"We had been there before and wanted to
find out if it is always so good. I remember
having an excellent sauteed perch dinner,
and Nathan enjoyed sauteed walleye. We
both had the wonderful tasting vegetable
soup and salad bar, choice of potato and
their famous pizza dough rolls. The baked
potato is one of the best I have ever had:"
OLDIE BUT GOODIE DEPT. ... A gent
buys a fabulous home with more than 50
rooms and gets a workman to decorate the
place. When the job is finished, the gent
is delighted but realizes that he's forgotten
something, to put mezuzot on the doors.
He goes out and buys 50 mezuzot and
asks the handyman to place them on the
right-hand side of each door apart from
bathrooms and kitchens.
He worries that the man will chip the
paintwork or won't put them up properly.
But when he comes back a few hours later,
the job has been carried out to his full sat-
isfaction, and he is so pleased he gives the
handyman a bonus.
As the handyman is walking out door he
says to the gent, "Glad you're happy with
the job. By the way, I took out all the guar-
antees that were in them and left them on
the table for you."

[No, I never owned a deli. The clos-
est was back in the '60s. There was a
Danny's Delicatessen on Greenfield and
10 Mile Road co-owned by George Fink,
former owner with Ben Epstein of Ben &
George's years ago on Dexter Boulevard.
Also, I understand, that in Chicago,
one of the owners or sons working at
Manny's Deli there is also named Danny
Raskin. These are the full extent of my
delicatessen connections other than
chewing on a good corned beef or what-
ever sandwich.]
BUDDY'S PIZZA has made another
new appearance in the Northwest sector of
Metropolitan Detroit ... It has opened in
Novi's Fountain Walk, west of Novi Road
off 12 Mile ... And probably just in time
for another new pizza concoction by Wes
Picula, vice-president of operations, and
owner Robert Jacobs.
