I voted for Snyder in 2010. I am an
elected Republican precinct delegate. I will
support all the other Republican candi-
dates on the ballot. But I and many others
I know will not support Snyder in this
election. Principles matter.

rnestine Rose was one of
the most influential Jewish
Humanists of the 19th century.
Rose was born in Poland in 1810. When
she and her husband moved to the U.S.
in 1836, Rose began advocating for
abolition, women's voting rights and the
end of child labor. She promoted these
causes years before President Abraham
Lincoln wrote the Emancipation
Proclamation and before married
women could own property.
Ernestine facilitated passage of the
Married Women's Property Act of 1848,
allowing married women to keep their
property, wages and sign contracts. Her
work was also instrumental in passage
of the Wyoming Suffrage legislation in
1869. She unsuccessfully appealed to
the Michigan legislature advocating for
women's right to vote, ending child labor
and the abolition of slavery.
She mentored other female humanists
such as Susan B. Anthony, so the move-
ment would continue after her death in
1892.
In honor of her strength, humanitari-
anism and character, Rose was admitted
to the Jewish-American Hall of Fame in
1994.
