She graduated in
1940 from Central
High School in
Detroit, attended
Finkel
the University of
Michigan and received her bachelor's
degree in economics in 1944 on a cam-
pus of mostly women during World
War II.
Shirley married Marvin Finkel on
June 8, 1947. After their four children
were school-age, Shirley studied at
Wayne State University and received
her teaching certificate in 1963.
She taught in Oak Park schools for
27 years, first at Francis Scott Key
School and then Frost Middle School.
A beloved teacher, she won a teach-
ing award in 1968 sponsored by the
Detroit News and nominated by stu-
dents and parents.
Mrs. Finkel was a member of
Congregation Shaarey Zedek and
served on the board of Brandeis Used
Book Sale for many years. She was a
dignified, beloved and wise woman,
dedicated to her family.
Mrs. Finkel is survived by her
daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara
and Sanford Flayer of Southfield,
Sandra Finkel and Seth Warschausky;
sons and daughter-in-law, Mark and
Jan Finkel, Larry Finkel and partner,
Rocco Marinaccio of New Jersey;
grandchildren, Jessica and David
Bigger, Micah and Gabe Warschausky;
great-granddaughter, Sophia Bigger;
sister, Harriet Goldberg; caregivers,
Denise Abbott and Rahtina Williams.
She was the devoted daughter of the
late Samuel and the late Jennie "Anya"
Victor; the beloved wife of the late
Marvin Finkel; the loving sister of the
late Judith Stulberg and the late Harold
Victor.
Interment was at Clover Hill Park
Cemetery. Contributions may be made

in-law, Dr. Herbert and Florence

children, Zachary, Ryan and Samantha
Fishman; many other loving family
members and friends.
Mrs. Fishman was the sister-in-law
of the late Raymond Kudisch.
