W
hen Eric Adelson, 12, of
West Bloomfield, lost his
great-grandmother and
great-uncle three weeks apart due to
Alzheimer's, he knew he wanted to
take action to stop the disease.
Adelson, who has
been a student at
Berkshire Middle
School and will be
at Hillel Day School
this academic year,
started a team page
for the Walk to
Eric Adelson
End Alzheimer's at
11 a.m. Saturday,
Aug. 23, at Ford Field in Detroit. His
efforts have raised more than $1,200
so far. With his bar mitzvah on Sept.
20 at Temple Israel, he wanted to do
something that helped others for his
mitzvah project.
"Due to the impact that his great-
grandmother and great-uncle had on
him, Eric decided to set up a contri-
bution page to raise awareness for
Alzheimer's" said his mother, Lisa
Adelson.
She and her husband, Brad, are
"proud of all Eric has done to aid in
the fight to end Alzheimer's."
Through Eric's mitzvah project,
he wants to help find a cure for
Alzheimer's because it runs in his
grandfather's family.
"We are hopeful the disease will
end" he said. "I hope no other families
will have to see this disease affect their
loved ones. I appreciate all the hard
work that the staff and volunteers of
the Alzheimer's Association Greater
Michigan Chapter have done"

in the opening ceremony:' Strip said.
"He will hold an orange flower rep-
resenting his commitment to helping
the Alzheimer's Association achieve its
vision of 'a world without Alzheimer's'
and then, along with the estimated
3,500 walkers, he will plant his flower
in the Promise Garden on Ford Field:'

parents and sister, Ashleigh, 10, that
