AFTER A STINT as gen-
eral manager opening the
New Hellas Greek restaurant
in Farmington Hills about
a year ago, popular Tony
Hadjisofroniou has returned
to Uptown Parthenon Greek
restaurant on Orchard
Lake and Lone Pine roads,
in Crosswinds Mall, West
Bloomfield, as its general
manager ... This December
will be 16 years since Tony
originally helped open
Uptown Parthenon.
THE WEATHER WAS all wet but
couldn't dampen the recent shindig by
Yanni and Patricia Karimalis He's the
noted hairdresser to the stars and accom-
plished artist, with paintings throughout
the Karimalis' spacious Novi home.
Their 12th annual Greek Garden Party
for 110 family, friends and Yanni's clients
was another symbol of love in a joy of
entertaining others.
Most of the large assortment of Greek
food, about 90 percent, was prepared
by Yanni and Pat, with some help from
a few close friends ... Authentic home-
made Greek appetizers galore, true Greek
entree specialties, salads, etc., etc., etc. ...
Attendees also thoroughly enjoyed a bevy
of true homemade Greek desserts.
Yanni's high reputation of many years
is accompanied by his other favorite pas-
sions ... cooking, artwork and gardening
... Give him the thrill of making brisket
or lamb shanks with orzo or chicken with
freshly chopped arugula, tomatoes and
onions on top, veal picante, etc., and he
is on cloud nine ... Yanni and Pat cook
all the time at home, love to have people
over for lunch or dinner ... and make for
a deep, kitchen-love obsession.

THE ORIGINAL intention and sup-
position goes by the wayside as Hogan's
restaurant may not be moved from
its Telegraph and 15 Mile location in
Bloomfield Township ... It originally had
been said to be the new site of a Walgreen
Pharmacy, but Hogan's customers will be
happy to know of this stay-put realiza-
tion.

Fellow sits at the delicatessen lunch coun-
ter and orders a corned beef sandwich.
"The corned beef sandwich has been
replaced by our Blue Chip Special," he is
told.
"What's a Blue Chip special?" asks the
customer.
"A triple decker with corned beef,
tongue, bologna, tomato, lettuce, onion,
pickle and mayonnaise on toasted raisin
bread."
"Could you just put some corned beef
between two slices of rye bread?"
"Sure!" says the counter gent. Then
turning to the sandwich man, he sings
out, 'One Blue Chip Special.' Make it one
deck, hold the tongue, bologna, tomato,
lettuce, onion, pickle and mayonnaise,
and make the raisin bread untoasted rye!"
