To Honor Levin
With New Award
U S. Sen. Carl Levin, D-Mich.,
will be the first recipi-
ent of the Global Citizen
Award to be presented by Lawrence
Technological University (LTU) on
Sunday, Aug. 24.
The award pre-
sentation will be
made at LTU's
annual convocation
ceremony for new
students and their
families at 12:30 p.m.
on Aug. 24 in the
ask

in Southfield. It will also mark the con-
clusion of the annual President's Global
Village Project for LTU students.

Moudgil established the Global Citizen
Award to recognize individuals who
have shown great character and leader-
ship in addressing global issues and
promoting international and social
understanding. This award will be
given annually to a person who demon-
strates the passion and energy to make
a positive impact on humanity through
collaborative enterprise and spirit.
After serving 36 years in the U.S.
Senate, Levin is stepping down when
his term ends in January 2015. He has
played an influential role in U.S. for-
eign affairs as a member of the Armed
Services Committee since 1979. He
has been the committee's chairman
since 2007.

citizenship will be a lasting memory
and a testament to many who follow
his exemplary leadership:' Moudgil
said. "We at LTU are proud to be
among the first to recognize such a rich
tradition of global understanding and
cultural awareness:'
Moudgil established LTU's Global
Village Project to help prepare students
to be global citizens with awareness and
knowledge of cultural, social, financial
and political similarities and differences
among nations and within the U.S.

dedicated his entire public life to safe-
guard the rights of U.S. citizens, provid-
ing opportunities for economic growth
and productive life while upholding
the place of the U.S. as the leader of the

his contributions to world peace and
global citizenship will inspire genera-
