(JSL) and JVS.
Dorothy and Peter Brown established
the program to help others experiencing
the toll that dementia took on Dorothy
Brown's family. Located at two sites, JVS
in Southfield and JSL in West Bloomfield,
the program assists older adults with
Alzheimer's disease and related memory
disorders to help them remain active and
alert.
Supported by our partnership in caring,
the families get a break from 24-hour care
with the comfort that, during the day,
their loved ones are in a safe and engag-
ing environment.
The Brown Centers, with compassion-
ate, professional staff, provide a warm,
supportive and loving place that program
participants experience as a social club
where they meet new friends and enjoy
activities tailored to their abilities and
interests.
It is a blessing to so many families who
receive needed supports to care for their
aging loved ones with a memory disorder
and keep them living at home as long as
possible.
We invite families to arrange a tour at
either of our facilities by calling (248)
661-1836.

T

he Detroit Jewish News
Archives is one of several
excellent resources chronicling
the history of our local community.
This June marks the 22nd anniversary
of another Metro Detroit Jewish histori-
cal collection — the Jewish Community
Archives (JCA). The JCA was dedicated
prior to the 1992 Jewish Historical
Society's annual luncheon and present-
ed in detail in the June 19, 1992, issue of
the Jewish News.
As detailed in the article, the archives
were cosponsored by the Jewish
Federation and the Jewish Historical
Society, in partnership with the Walter
P. Reuther Library at Wayne State
University. The papers of Jewish News
founder Philip Slomovitz were among
the first collections included in the
archives at the Reuther Library.
