'Four Chaplains'

Jewish War Veterans event honors those
who give service to the community.

T

he Department of Jewish War Veterans and Ladies Auxiliary gath-
ered in March at the Jewish Community Center in Oak Park for their
"Brotherhood and Four Chaplains" program that each year recognizes
citizens for their contributions to the community. The program is named in

U-Boat on Feb. 3, 1943. The event was co-chaired by Commander Harmon
Tron, Shirlee Marshall and Berna Reinewald, chair of the Four Chaplains event.
Brotherhood Awards were bestowed upon Detroit Deputy Mayor Isaiah "Ike"
McKinnon, Rabbi Avie Shapiro of Jewish Hospice and Chaplaincy Network,
Andrea Gallucci, volunteer archivist at Temple Beth El in Bloomfield Township,
Leo Tsanganos of Leo's Country Oven in Madison Heights and Jim Simos of the
Country Oven in Warren. Past Department Commander David George was the
