HERBERT
"SHELLY"
I SCHELBERG, 95,
of Southfield, died
March 6, 2014.
He was born
in New York and
moved to Detroit
Schelberg
around 1938,
where he met Edythe Bernson while
selling shoes at Burt's. He served as
an Army corporal during World War
II and built airplanes, which was the
start of a long career in the "surplus
parts" business.
He and his wife, Edythe, loved,
laughed and danced through 62 years
of marriage; she died in 2006. Their
life together was filled with family,
wonderful friends, travel, bridge and
golf. Shelly lived life with a smile
on his face and a light in his eye
and wanted everyone around him
to feel the same way. He cherished
his family and friends and encour-
aged everyone else to do the same.
Whether you were his friend, his
family, his friend's family, his family's
friend or a stranger he happened to
meet, he would do anything he could
to help you or just make you smile.
His generosity of spirit and love of
life were limitless.
Mr. Schelberg is survived by and
will be remembered with love by his
children, Jim and Marilyn Schelberg
and Jane Schelberg; his grandchil-
dren, David and Karen Schelberg,
Jonathan Schelberg, and Andrew
Schelberg-Miller; many nieces and
nephews; dozens of others who
called him "Father" "Uncle Shelly" or
"Grandpa." He is also survived by his
caregiver and friend, Sandra Shaw.
Contributions may be made
to the Schelberg Family Shabbat
Birthday Book Fund at Temple Israel
of West Bloomfield, http://temple-

of one's choice. Arrangements by Ira
