Shaarey Zedek's Young Jewish Artist Showcase

so successful the event will be an annual affair.

A

rt lovers braved the cold to
support the inaugural Young
Jewish Artist Showcase
(yJas) held at Congregation Shaarey
Zedek in Southfield on Jan. 25. Art
aficionados sipped wine and enjoyed
desserts by Quality Kosher Catering
while they listened to music from gui-
tarist Sean Blackman. The artists were
thrilled to schmooze with guests as they
explained their techniques.
On Sunday, Jan. 26, people flowed in

and out of the venue looking for a spe-
cial piece of art to add to their collec-
tion. According to the event co-chairs,
Barbara Cohn and Barbara Heller, the
next yJas event, already in the plan-
ning stages, will be in association with
NextGen and the Detroit Jewish News.
If you are an artist aged 18-45 and
want to participate in next year's show-
case, contact Tobye Bello at tbello@
shaareyzedek.org or (248) 357-5544
ext. 45.
