ASUH
The American Society of the University of Haifa
(ASUH) is dedicated to increasing awareness
and financial support for the University of Haifa
to ensure its continued excellence in teaching,
research and community service.
Supporters of the University from Detroit
include The Ben N. Teitel Charitable Trust,
chaired by Barbara and Gerald Cook that
generously provides scholarships for first year
Ethiopian students. Community leader and
philanthropist Doreen Hermelin supports
a new charter School in Kiryat Bialik town
north of Haifa that offers quality educational
opportunities for students from low income
families.
ASUH's National Executive Director, Yefet
Ozery, who served as community Shaliach at
the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit
and represented the Federation in Israel, has
close ties in the community.
Invest in Education,
Invest in Israel's Future
You can help the University of
Haifa maintain both its academic
excellence and the rich diversity of
its multicultural student body by
supporting student scholarships.
More than 5,000 students receive
financial aid each year, with much of
this funding coming from generous
friends, like you, here in the United
States.
Scholarships help the University
attract Israel's top students with merit-
based grants and provide thousands
of students in financial need — new
immigrants, soldiers, minority groups
and single parents — an opportunity
to better their lives and contribute to
Israel, through the benefits of higher
education.
