Even though the Detroit U16 base-
ball team lost four of five games in
Austin, "the boys had a great experi-
ence and a great time," said coach
Jonny Goldberg.
Detroit's lone win was a 12-0 beat-
ing of Boston/Phoenix. Jake Cohen
and Brett Jiron combined for the
shutout, and Blake Rogow and Seth
adapted to one another's playing
styles and abilities:' she said. "We
played some tough teams, but overall,
it was an enjoyable experience."
One of the team's highlights, Sesi
said, was meeting Olympic gold med-
al-winning gymnast Aly Raisman.
Warren led the Detroit offense.
An 11-10 loss to Ft. Lauderdale
in the playoffs eliminated Detroit
from the tournament. Down 11-6
in the final inning, Detroit scored
four runs with two out and had the
bases loaded when the final out was
recorded.
