ARC, an organization serv-

recently recognized nine of
its employees at its 16th annual staff
recognition luncheon at Congregation
Beth Ahm in West Bloomfield.
Two of the organization's key employ-
ees were honored at the luncheon with
longevity milestones, including COO
Chris Hench of Livonia and Chief
Development Officer Rena Friedberg of
Huntington Woods, who each marked
their 30th anniversary at JARC.
Gerry Provencal, CEO of Macomb-
Oakland Regional Center (MORC), was
the event's featured keynote speaker.
JARC Board President Ron Applebaum
of Huntington Woods and former
Board President Jim Zack of Franklin
also served as speakers.
Seven other staff award winners also
were recognized by Board Member
Janis Shulman who, along with her
husband Larry Shulman of Farmington
Hills, established a fund to provide each
winner with a $500 stipend.
Meir Roetter of Oak Park and Aaron
Langevin each received the Marilyn
Sisler Memorial Award for excellence in
their departments. Oneka Brooks won
the Anna Slomovitz Memorial Award
for excellence in management; Lena
Griffin and Karen Russo received the
Joseph Tanzman Memorial Award for

Rena Friedberg and Chris Hench

excellence in administration; Lindsey
Fox-Wagner was honored with the
Joyce Keller Award for strengthening
JARC through creativity; and Rosemary
Kuplicki was recognized with JARC's
Gentle Teaching Award.
JARC's annual staff excellence
awards are nominated and voted on by
employees of the organization.
"Our talented and dedicated employ-
ees make a difference everyday here at
JARC," said Rick Loewenstein, JARC
CEO. "It's an honor for each of them to
be recognized at this luncheon by JARC
and, most importantly, their peers, so
they know how much we appreciate
their efforts:'
The event was funded by the Joyce
Keller and Michael A. Walch Staff
Recognition Fund, with generous assis-
tance from the Board Family Projects
Committee.
