Two of the organization's key employ- ees were honored at the luncheon with longevity milestones, including COO Chris Hench of Livonia and Chief Development Officer Rena Friedberg of Huntington Woods, who each marked their 30th anniversary at JARC. Gerry Provencal, CEO of Macomb- Oakland Regional Center (MORC), was the event's featured keynote speaker. JARC Board President Ron Applebaum of Huntington Woods and former Board President Jim Zack of Franklin also served as speakers. Seven other staff award winners also were recognized by Board Member Janis Shulman who, along with her husband Larry Shulman of Farmington Hills, established a fund to provide each winner with a $500 stipend. Meir Roetter of Oak Park and Aaron Langevin each received the Marilyn Sisler Memorial Award for excellence in their departments. Oneka Brooks won the Anna Slomovitz Memorial Award for excellence in management; Lena Griffin and Karen Russo received the Joseph Tanzman Memorial Award for Rena Friedberg and Chris Hench excellence in administration; Lindsey Fox-Wagner was honored with the Joyce Keller Award for strengthening JARC through creativity; and Rosemary Kuplicki was recognized with JARC's Gentle Teaching Award. JARC's annual staff excellence awards are nominated and voted on by employees of the organization.
