Sharing Time

Adat Shalom will continue
its parent-toddler
program this summer.

A

dat Shalom Synagogue in
Farmington Hills will continue
its parent-toddler program
with summer classes on Friday mornings
beginning June 21. Parents are invited
to spend one-on-one time with their
children, ages 14 months to 2 1 /2 years. In
a safe, child-friendly environment, the
group will experience a variety of play-
based learning centers, art projects, circle
time, music and an introduction to the
Jewish holidays.
Parents have the opportunity to develop
supportive relationships with teachers
Julie Shiffman and Roz Bressler, and to
learn skills that build healthy families.
The summer fun is set from 9:45-
11:15 a.m. Fridays through Aug. 16. For

T'chiyah celebrates Shavuot with an original play.

n May 15, in honor of Shavuot, the
Congregation T'chiyah Thespians
performed the "world premier" of
Barbara H. Goldman's play, Destinations: A
Shavuot Musical (adapted from the Book of
Ruth) to a very appreciative audience.
The play was directed by Frannie R.
Goldstein; Rabbi Shawn Zevit provided

cheese reception followed. This event
marked Zevit's last monthly visit to
T'chiyah this year. He has enriched the
congregation with his beautiful, songful
spirituality, his extraordinary rabbinical
leadership, and his mentshlichkeit, or
good-heartedness.

At ETC, teens voted on where money
raised throughout the year at events such
as the annual Coffeehouse fundraiser and

the Stand Up for Detroit concert would go.
After hearing from representatives of four
different organizations based in Detroit,
it was decided that the money would
be donated to Matrix Human Services,
specifically Matrix Off the Streets, which
provides shelter and assistance to Detroit

youth who are homeless.
Also at ETC, the 89th and 69th regional
boards of Michigan Region were elected.
Junior Brett Rubenfire of West Bloomfield
and junior Lauren Yellen of Farmington
Hills will lead their respective boards as
the newly elected presidents. ❑
